Wow. And I don't mean some other game.
The first week of the MoM launch has been simply awesome. Launch went off without a hitch, servers came up right at midnight on the morning of the 18th ... and instantly filled the server queues. The old adage "never play on patch day" still holds water ... after more then 2 hours of trying, I gave up and went to bed. :-) People might look at that asa bad launch - I don't. I think it's totally awesome that so many people were trying to get into the game even that early in the morning.
By my totally unscientific estimate, LOTRO has passed the 1,000,000 mark for sold subscriptions. They also won the voting for which game should be featured on the cover of Massive Gamer magazine for December ... which, with 3 big game expansions all hitting the shelves around now, is also huge. Exposure is something what will never hurt this game.
The one thing that really surprises me about the launch is that there haven't been tons of whining posts in the official forums. With the broad changes to the combat system, I expected wails of anguish from the min/max types. Apparently they're taking pre-patch advice from testers, and actually playing the changes before they fly off the handle. More proof that the LOTRO community is an older and wiser one then some others.
